Wat is NFK?
NFK is een studentenvereniging door filosofiestudenten, voor filosofiestudenten. We zijn verbonden aan het Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte van de KULeuven. Het doel van een studentenvereniging is om haar leden te verbinden, te helpen en te amuseren, maar NFK is zo veel meer. De NFK presidiumleden zullen hun hart en ziel steken in de debatten, leesgroepen, feestjes… die ze voor je zullen organiseren volgend jaar. NFK zal ook het orgaan zijn dat je op verschillende niveaus vertegenwoordigt, voornamelijk op onderwijsvlak. We willen ervoor zorgen dat zowel de ‘feestbeesten’ als de ‘geef-mij-maar-een-goed-boek-mensen’ zich bij ons thuis voelen.
We organiseren ongeveer 3 activiteiten per week, waarvan er een aantal wekelijks terugkeren. Voorbeelden zijn onze fakbar op dinsdagavond in het M-café (taste M), onze broodmaaltijd op vrijdag (brood, beleg en gezelligheid voor €1,50) en lees-groepen. Andere activiteiten zijn jaarlijks, zoals ons stijlvolle kerstfeest, de cultuurreis en de ‘open expo’, waar kunstzinnige filosofiestudenten hun werk tentoon kunnen stellen. Tenslotte, maar minstens even belangrijk, zijn er de talrijke kleinere activiteiten zoals een filmavond, een casinoavond, een keertje weerwolven en zo veel meer.
Goed om te weten
- Iedere filosofiestudent is automatisch lid van NFK. We kiezen ervoor geen lidgeld te vragen. Dit betekent dat je op ieder moment eender welke NFK activiteit kan bijwonen, dat je tegen bodemprijzen je cursussen kan kopen in onze ‘cudi’ en altijd bij ons terecht kan voor je onderwijsgerelateerde vragen of opmerkingen.
- Ook leuk om te weten: we houden geen studentendopen. We vinden niet dat je iets te bewijzen hebt. Je keuze voor filosofie maakt je al een van ons.
- Omdat elke filosoof brandstof nodig heeft biedt NKF koffie en thee aan tegen vrije bijdrage in onze studentenlounge. Onze lounge is in de kelder van het instituut, en is open eender wanneer het instituut open is. Nestel je maar gezellig in één van onze zetels of warm je maaltijd op in onze microgolfoven. En nog een pluspunt: je vindt er altijd wel iemand voor een gezellig babbeltje of een grote filosofische discussie.
- Een laatste belangrijk weetje: NFK heeft een cursusdienst (‘cudi’). Dit wil zeggen dat we geprinte readers aan drukprijs verkopen. We kunnen geen boeken verkopen en we kunnen alleen de readers verkopen die proffen ons zenden. De cudi is in de kelder, naast de studentenkitchenette, en de openingsuren staan op de website www.nfk.be en op de Facebookpagina. De eerste week na het drukken wordt de cursus ook in het betreffende leslokaal verkocht. De cudi is open vanaf de tweede.

Hoe bereik je ons?
Om op de hoogte te blijven van onze activiteiten kan je je inschrijven op onze nieuwsbrief, de wegwijzer. Vul hiervoor je e-mailadres in het kadertje dat je op onze website vindt, onder de foto’s, kalender en Twitter. Word ook lid van de ‘NFK Social group’ op Facebook, en like de NFK facebook pagina. Eerstejaarsweekend
Om het jaar knallend in te gaan, organiseert NFK een weekend speciaal voor alle studenten die beginnen aan hun opleiding filosofie. Zo kun je je medestudenten op een meer informele manier leren kennen en een hoop nieuwe vrienden maken. We organiseren tal van activiteiten en zorgen ook voor eten en drinken. Je begint je eerste jaar dus meteen met een geweldige start, veel gezelligheid en hopelijk een hechte band met je studiegenoten. Je kan je inschrijven door een e-mail te sturen naar: sociaal@nfk.be. DeWijzer

WegWijzer
Elke week van het schooljaar verdelen we zowel op papier als digitaal de WegWijzer: een nieuwsbrief met alle activiteiten die we die week organiseren. Hier volgt alvast de kalender voor de eerste week.

What is NFK?
NFK is a student association organized by philosophy students for philosophy students, in connection with the Institute of Philosophy at KU Leuven. The main goal of a student association is to connect, entertain and help their members, but NFK is so much more. The NFK praesidium members will give their heart and soul to organize debates, reading groups, parties and more. NFK will also be your educational representative among the faculty and university. We’ll see to it that the “party people” as well as the “I-prefer-a-good-book people” feel at home among us.
We’ll organize about 3 activities a week, with weekly recurring activities like the fakbar on Tuesdays, which means NFK takes over the bar of the M museum — to be filled with philosophical (and less philosophical) chatter — the bread meal on Friday (bread, spread and coziness for €1,50) and reading groups. There are some big annual events like the formal Christmas dinner, the cultural weekend trip and the ‘open expo’ where philosophy students can exhibit their arts. Last but not least there are the smaller events like a movie night, a casino night, a cantus, a mafia game night and more!
Good to know
- Every philosophy student is automatically a member of NFK. We choose not to ask a membership fee. This means you can join any NFK activity at any time, buy your readers at discount prices at our ‘cudi’ and contact us with any academic question or remark you have.
- Also good to know: we do not have ‘student baptism‘ or ‘hazing’ rituals. We don’t feel like you have to prove anything, your choice for philosophy already makes you one of us.
- Since every philosopher needs fuel; NFK offers coffee and tea with free contribution in our students lounge. Our lounge is in the basement of the Institute, and is open whenever the Institute is open. Feel free to nestle yourself in one of our couches or heat your pick-nick in our microwave. As a plus, you’ll always find someone there for a nice little talk or a big discussion in our lounge.
- A last important thing to know: as a service to our members we have a ‘cudi’. This means we sell printed course readers at discount prices. We do not sell any books, and we can only sell the readers professors send us. The readers we print will be sold in the basement, next to our student kitchenette, and in the concerning classes the first week after printing is done. Opening hours of the cudi are on the website www.nfk.be and on Facebook. The cudi is open from the second week on.

Freshman weekend
To start our new year with a bang, NFK organizes a weekend for the new philosophy students. It’s the perfect way to get to know your fellow students and make a bunch of new friends. We have a lot of activities planned and will make sure you will have enough to eat and drink.
