Op dinsdag is het fakbar. Het geplande schaaktoernooi wordt wegens onvoorziene omstandigheden uitgesteld naar een latere datum. Vanaf 22:00 in M-café.

Woensdag vanaf 20:00 gaan we weerwolfje spelen. Dit alom bekende en geweldig leuke spel heeft niet veel aankondiging meer nodig, dus twijfel niet en kom naar de lounge om samen met ons te genieten van de spanning die heerst in het door weerwolven geteisterde stadje.

Het is alweer even geleden, maar donderdag is het nog eens tijd voor een NFK-feestje! Samen met studentenkring Eoos houden we een heuse Ikea TD. Laat je innerlijke kast vrij (maar laat je houterige danspasjes thuis) en zak om 22:00 af naar de Blauwe Kater. Inkom is €3 voor leden (filosofiestudenten) en €4 voor niet-leden.

Ook deze vrijdag sluiten we de week af met onze oude vertrouwde en uiteraard overheerlijke broodmaaltijd. Zoals steeds kan je tussen 12u en 14u in de lounge terecht voor een waardige afsluiter van een week vol geweldige NFK-activiteiten voor slechts 1.5 euro!

TOEKOMSTMUZIEK

NFK organiseert een uitstap naar Louvain-la-Neuve op dinsdag 10 maart. Daarvoor werden we uitgenodigd door de plaatselijke kring. Het programma voor die dag houdt een bibliotheekbezoek, een bezoek aan de stad, lezingen over ‘Utopia’ en een avondmaal in. Wie mee wil, dient ten laatste zondag zijn naam door te sturen naar marie.vanwingh@student.kuleuven.be. Verdere info wordt dan later via mail gestuurd.

EXTRA

We willen nogmaals een oproep doen om de docentenevaluaties in te vullen. Ga daarvoor naar www.kuleuven.be/onderwijs/evaluatie. De resultaten tellen pas mee als meer dan 50% van de studenten de enquête heeft ingevuld. Op dit moment zitten we aan 44%, dus we zijn er bijna! Laat zien dat de filosofen de meest geëngageerde studenten zijn van iedereen, en help ons om de hoogste responsgraad opnieuw te behalen! Invullen kost maar enkele minuutjes en kan tot 11 maart, dus er zijn geen excuses om het niet te doen! Professor Sylvia Wenmackers en doctorandus Pieter Thyssen, beiden werkzaam in het domein van de wetenschapsfilosofie, zullen binnenkort een leesgroep begeleiden. Ooit meer willen weten over de filosofische problemen die de kwantummechanica ons voorschotelt? Heb je je ooit afgevraagd hoe het kan dat Schrödingers kat tegelijk levend en dood was? Probeer je een blauwdruk te maken voor een teleporteermachine? Ben je verbaasd over het feit dat deeltjes door een massieve muur kunnen gaan? Sta je helemaal versteld bij de gedachte aan een parallel universum? Of wil je gewoon je meest gekoesterde intuïties over tijd en causaliteit aan een test onderwerpen? Schrijf je dan in! NFKALENDAR

On Tuesday we have our weekly fak evening at 22:00 in M-café (Savoyestraat 10). The planned chess-tournament has been postponed to a later date.

Wednesday from 20:00 we’re gonna play Mafia. In this game you have to figure out which supposedly innocent civilian is actually a cruel werewolf. But don’t be fooled, because this game is all about deception and nothing is as it seems. Don’t hesitate and come to the lounge to join us in this organized crime-typed game.

It’s been a while, but this Thursday there’ll be an NFK party! Together with student association Eoos, we organise an awesome Ikea-themed party. Come out of your closet (but leave your woodenly dance moves at home) and be welcome from 22:00 on at the Blauwe Kater. Entrance is €3 for NFK-members (philosophy students) and €4 for non-members.

Like always, we finish the week on Friday with our trusty old and of course delicious bread meal. Between 12:00 and 14:00, you can find us at our regular spot in the lounge if you want a deserving end of a week filled with amazing NFK-activities for just 1.5 euro!

IN THE FUTURE

NFK organizes a trip to Louvain-la-Neuve on Tuesday March 10th. We are invited by the local philosophy students association. The program for that days will be a visit to the library, a visit to the town, lectures on ‘Utopia’ and a dinner. If you want to join, you should at last Sunday send your name to marie.vanwingh@student.kuleuven.be. More information will be send by e-mail later on.

We would like to ask you again to fill in the online student evaluations. The results of these questionnaires will only count if more than 50% of the students participate. At the moment, 44% of the students have responded, so we’re almost there! Show the university that we philosophers are the most engaged students, and help us to reconquer our first place with the highest response grade of the entire KUL! The evaluations only cost a few minutes and you can to this until March 11^th, so there are no excuses not to do it! Om de week goed te beginnen, start maandag hét meest kunstzinnige evenement van het jaar: de Open Expo! Samen met Mecenas organiseren we een week vol acts, performance, film en poëzie. De toegang tot de expositie is gratis. Kom maandag vanaf 20:00 dus zeker naar het Kartuizerklooster (Bankstraat 75) voor de receptie die het begin van deze kunstweek inluidt, met aansluitend de openingsspeeches van de praesides Cilia Gouwy (Mecenas) en Ewoud De Sadeleer (NFK). Vervolgens voorziet Mecenas ons van een interessante lezing door drs.Wendy Wiertz. Deze lezing met de naam “Omdat het leuk is!” gaat over de redenen toen en nu om de kunsten als hobby te hebben. Probeer dinsdag om 20:15 ook zeker een bezoekje aan de lounge te brengen. We organiseren namelijk een onderwijsbabbel om jullie mening over onderwijstopics te horen. We zullen het vooral hebben over de hervorming (voor aankomende studenten) van de optie algemene wijsbegeerte, die op de komende POC besproken zal worden. Als jullie echter zelf nog andere vragen, opmerkingen of klachten hebben, zijn jullie ook zeer welkom. Aarzel dus niet om even langs te komen en bij een lekker drankje jullie input te geven.

Elke week komen alle filosofen op dinsdag samen in onze vertrouwde fakbar het M-café en dat is ook deze week weer het geval. Vanaf 22:00 kan je ons vergezellen voor een gezellige avond in tof gezelschap!

Niemand mag woensdag ontbreken in het Kartuizerklooster, want het belooft een spetterende Open Expo-avond te worden! NFK opent de avond om 19:00 met kortverhalen en poëzie, waarna Kabloeng afsluit met een heus improtheather, komt dat zien!

Eigenlijk hebben we al iets te lang gewacht, dus nu is het hoog tijd om de innerlijke mens te spijzen en te laven. Donderdag vanaf 20:00 nodigen we jullie uit om in het Kartuizerklooster mee te genieten van lekkere kaas en heerlijke wijn. Daarvoor kan je je deze week voor slechts €5 inschrijven bij de cudi. Ook op deze avond blijven onze medestudenten je voorzien van hun voortreffelijke poëzie- en muziekperformances. Om de Open Expo feestelijk af te ronden, sluiten we de avond af met twee DJ’s.

X op een schatkaart verwijst naar de eindbestemming, zo duidt ook de broodmaaltijd op vrijdag het einde van de week aan. Tussen 12:00 en 14:00 zijn jullie allemaal welkom om de week in schoonheid af te sluiten, genietend van een lekkere en uiteraard niet dure maaltijd, voor €1.5, in de lounge.

Ook deze twee dingen mogen jullie zeker niet vergeten: het eerste is de docentenevaluatie invullen, die nog steeds terug te vinden is in je studentenmailbox. Het tweede is de leesgroep van postdoctorandus Lorenz Demey. 8 weken lang wordt het boek ‘More Precisely. The Math you Need to do Philosophy’ van Eric Steinhart (2009, Broadview Press) gelezen. Geïnteresseerd? Aan de valven in het HIW hangt de inschrijvingslijst uit met meer informatie over de leesgroep.

NFKALENDAR

Open Expo is without doubt the most artistic event of the year! Together with student association Mecenas, we organise a week full of acts, performances, film and poetry. Starting from Monday at 20:00, you can come to the Kartuizerklooster (Bankstraat 75). The evening starts off with a reception, followed by the opening speeches of the praesides Cilia Gouwy (Mecenas) and Ewoud De Sadeleer (NFK). Pay a visit to the lounge on Tuesday at 20:15, because we’re organizing a talk about education and we want your opinion! You can come to us with all your questions, complaints, remarks and suggestions on education related topics. Later on we focus on the possible reformation of the Dutch program. We offer you answers to all your education questions and a nice drink, so don’t hesitate to stop by.

Every week on Tuesday, all the philosophers gather at our old and trusty fakbar, the M-café. You can join us from 22:00 for a fun evening in great company!

No one should be absent in the Kartuizerklooster this Wednesday, for it’s going to be a magnificent Open Expo evening! NFK starts the evening at 19:00 with short stories and poetry, followed with an improv-theater by Kabloeng.

Evidently we have more for you this week: on Thursday at 20:00, you can come to the Kartuizerklooster for some excellent cheese and delicious wine. You can sign up for only €5 at the cudi. Our fellow student will provide us with their outstanding poetry and music performances. As a grand finale, we have two DJ’s who’ll end the Open Expo in a festive way.

X on a treasure map refers to the final destination, and in the same way, the bread meal on Friday marks the end of the week. You’re all welcome between 12:00 and 14:00 to beautifully end the week, while enjoying nice and of course inexpensive meal, for  €1.5, in the lounge.
