NFK bestaat 45 jaar, en dat moet gevierd worden! Daarom houden we van maandag 16/03 tot vrijdag 20/03 een Lustrumweek, met elke dag een andere, geweldige, filosofische activiteit! Hieronder volgt een overzicht van de dingen die we gaan doen, maar check zeker ook de evenementen op Facebook voor meer informatie!

Maandag beginnen we onze lustrumweek in stijl met een sfeervolle receptie in de salons van het instituut. Er kan geluisterd worden naar speeches van onze eigen praeses Ewoud De Sadeleer en de praeses van 1975 (Frank Driesen). Iedereen die zich verbonden voelt met NFK is welkom om vanaf 20:30 het cavaglas te heffen op de toekomst van de Nieuwe Filosofische Kring!

Lustrumweek of niet, natuurlijk is op dinsdagavond de fakbar open! Deze week hebben we echter wel een heel speciale fak… Niet alleen kun je de taptalenten van Pieter D’Hoine en Guy Claessens bewonderen tijdens de proffenfak, maar ook wordt er in het zaaltje boven het café een heuse NFK-expo ingericht. De geschiedenis van de Nieuwe Filosofische Kring wordt hier verteld met foto’s, deWijzers, prijzen en andere memorabilia.

Ontdek jezelf, begin bij de wereld. Dit motto van de KU Leuven willen wij graag uitdragen door alle filosofen die verstokt zijn aan het vertrouwde HIW op woensdag eens mee te nemen op een rondleiding door Leuven. Niet zomaar een rondleiding, maar een filosofische! Postdoc Maren Wehrle leidt ons rond door het Husserlinstituut. Daarna verlaten we het HIW en gaan we verder terug in de tijd: Stijn Demaré vertelt ons dan over de geschiedenis van het Leo XIII-seminarie. Ten slotte bezoeken we het Hollands College (vlakbij de Oude Markt). Hier zal professor Bart Pattyn ons een inleiding geven in het Jansenisme, terwijl hij ons het prachtige gebouw laat zien.
We verzamelen om 10:45 op het grasveldje bij het HIW.
Als je geen tijd hebt om de hele rondleiding te volgen, maar wel naar een of twee onderdelen ervan wilt komen, kun je een mailtje sturen naar onderwijs@nfk.be .

Op de donderdag van de lustrumweek doet NFK waar ze zo goed in is: een gezellige studentikoze activiteit in de lounge organiseren. Vanaf 20:00 kan je de hele avond komen relaxen in jaren 60/70 stijl. Drink een heerlijk biertje, speel een ouderwets bordspel of kijk een interessante kortfilm, kortom: kom rustig bij van de lustrumweek en al je lessen in onze vertrouwde lounge.

Kom je nooit naar de broodmaaltijd, omdat plakken jonge kaas en pakjes salami niet goed genoeg voor je zijn? Dan kun je vrijdag je hart ophalen bij onze fancy broodmaaltijd in de salons. Voor de vertrouwde 1.5 euro zorgen we ervoor dat het je aan niets ontbreekt terwijl je bijpraat met je medestudenten. We beloven je dat je met een goedgevulde maag aan het weekend kunt beginnen!

Er zijn nog steeds tickets te koop voor het galabal met bijhorende receptie op 26 maart, in de luxueuze stijl van de jaren ’20 en de weelderige overdaad van The Great Gatsby! Haast je dus naar de CuDi, want de plaatsen zijn beperkt en de tickets beloven snel uitverkocht te raken voor dit glamoreuze feest!

Noteer ook alvast maandag 23 maart in je agenda. Dan is er om 20:00 in auditorium C namelijk een infosessie voor het nieuwe praesidium. Iedereen die er nog maar een heel klein beetje aan denkt om volgende jaar een functie op te nemen in het praesidium is dan welkom. We geven uitleg en jij kan er al je vragen kwijt. We kijken zeker ook al eens naar de functieverdeling.

NFKALENDAR

NFK celebrates its 45th anniversary! Therefore we organise a Lustrum week from Monday 16/03 to Friday 20/03, with another great philosophical activity each day! Below you can find a summary of the things we’ll do, but be sure to check the events on Facebook for more information!

On Monday, we start our lustrum weak in a stylish way with a pleasant reception in the salons of the institute. You can listen to speeches of praeses Ewoud De Sadeleer and former praeses Frank Driesen (praeses in 1975). We invite everyone who likes NFK to raise a glass to the future of the student association!

Of course there is a fakbar at Tuesday night, regardless of the lustrum week. But the fakbar will be very special this week… You will not only learn how well Pieter D’Hoine and Guy Claessens draft a beer at the professorsbar, but also how NFK developed through the years. Above the bar there will be an exposition with old photos, NFK magazines, awards and other interesting historical stuff.

Discover yourself, start with the world. We want to show the importance of this motto by taking the HIW-attached philosophers on a tour into the big outside world of philosophical Leuven on Wednesday. Postdoc Maren Wehrle guides us through the Husserl Institute, Stijn Demaré tells us about the history of the Leo XIII-seminar (behind the HIW) and professor Bart Pattyn shows us around in the Hollands College (close to the Oude Markt). This was an important place for Jansenism in Leuven. (The tour will be in Dutch, but there will be students willing to translate what the guides are saying.)
The tour starts at 10:45 at the grass court in front of the Institute. If you don’t have time to take the whole tour, but you do want to join us for one or two parts, please send an email to onderwijs@nfk.be .

On Thursday, the kind of activity that NFK organizes best, takes place: a cozy, student-friendly evening in the lounge. Relax with us in 60’s/70’s style! Starting from 20:00, you can drink delicious beers, play some old-fashioned board games or watch interesting short films. Of course we will play the right music. In short: just chill out after an eventful lustrum week and difficult classes.

Do you refuse to come to our usual breadmeals because you’re too good for normal cheese and ham? Then our fancy breadmeal in the salons on Friday will be a pleasure for you. For just 1.5 euro we provide you with everything you might want to eat while talking with your fellow philosophers. We promise you that you won’t start you weekend with an empty stomach!

There are still tickets available for the gala and reception on March 26, in the luxurious style of the 20s and the lush extravagance of The Great Gatsby! So hurry to the CuDi because places are limited and tickets for this glamorous party will sell out quickly!

Note also Monday March 24. Then we organize an infosession for all who want to join the student association next year. At 20:00 in aula C we give info, you can ask questions and we already attempt to divide the different functions. Everyone is welcome, also when you’re not yet sure whether or not to join.

WEGWIJZER

We beginnen de week rustig en laten het weekend nog een dagje langer duren, dus zijn er geen activiteiten op maandag, maar dinsdag gaan we er weer hard tegenaan met onze wekelijkse fakbar-avond! Zet de week goed in en kom voor een avond vol goede muziek, lekkere drank en nootjes en bovenal het beste gezelschap dat je je kan indenken naar het ondertussen alom bekende adres: het M-café in de Savoyestraat!

Op woensdag 11 maart is het weer tijd voor het beste sportevenement van het jaar, de Thomascup! Deze jaarlijkse zaalvoetbalwedstrijd tussen NFK en Katechetika start om 14u45 met de wedstrijd van de vrouwen, waarna aansluitend de mannen zullen spelen. Heb je voetbalmoves zoals de Rode Duivels tijdens het WK of heb je meer zin om onze spelers aan te moedigen en ze zo mee op weg te helpen naar de overwinning? Allebei goed, want iedereen is welkom in de KBC-hal bij het sportkot!

Het galabal van 26 maart nadert met rasse schreden en om helemaal in thema te raken, kijken we op woensdag dé film die laat zien waar het allemaal om gaat, The Great Gatsby! Heb je nog ideeën nodig voor je outfit, zin om je helemaal onder te dompelen in de weelderige sfeer van de jaren ’20 of wil je een gewoon geweldig goede film zien? Kom dan zeker om 20u naar de lounge voor een filmavond in stijl!

Wegens de cultuurreis van NFK naar Londen (degenen die meegaan: check jullie mail!), zal onze wekelijkse broodmaaltijd op vrijdag niet doorgaan. Maar niet getreurd, volgende week staan we weer helemaal voor je klaar met een uitgebreide selectie aan brood, charcuterie en slaatjes! Ook de CuDi zal die dag uitzonderlijk niet open zijn.

TOEKOMSTMUZIEK

Op donderdag 26 maart vindt het grootste en chicste dansevenement van het jaar plaats, ons galabal! Daarom start de ticketverkoop op maandag. Een ticket kost maar €7 en kan je gaan halen in de CuDi, of op dinsdag tijdens de fakbar. Nog niet helemaal zeker over je outfit? Ga dan zeker naar de site van NFK om alles te weten te komen over thema en dresscode: www.nfk.be/galabal zal je daar alles over vertellen!

We willen nog een allerlaatste oproep doen om de docentenevaluaties in te vullen! De laatste dag waarop je dit kan doen is 11 maart, dus als je het nog niet gedaan hebt is het nu vijf voor 12. Waarom vinden we dit zo belangrijk? De docentenevaluaties zijn er omdat we jullie input over de lessen nodig hebben. Indien er iets was dat je niet goed vond, je ergens problemen of klachten bij had, of net iets goed vond en de prof daarvoor wilt complimenteren, is het nodig dat ze dat weten. Alleen op deze manier kunnen we het best mogelijke onderwijs garanderen, en dat is toch iets dat we allemaal willen. De resultaten worden anoniem verwerkt, door een onafhankelijk comité (dus niet door de prof zelf). Op dit moment staan we op de tweede plaats wat responsgraad betreft, met de faculteiten van wetenschappen en bio-ingenieurs op een gedeelde eerste plaats, maar de theologen zitten ons op de hielen! Als iedereen de evaluaties invult, kunnen we terug op de eerste plaats komen, zoals we elk jaar deden. Dit jaar krijgt de faculteit die op de eerste plaats eindigt, een geldprijs voor Onderwijs, zodat we jullie van een fijn extraatje kunnen voorzien. Laatste kans, dus allemaal invullen!

De openingsuren van de cudi zijn vanaf nu: dinsdag 17:00-19:00 en vrijdag 12:00-14:00.

NFKALENDAR

We start the week off calmly and let the weekend last a day longer, so we have no activities for Monday, but on Tuesday we’ll get really into it with our weekly fakbar-evening! Begin the week with a bang and come to the well-known M-café in the Savoyestraat for an evening full of good music, nice drinks and cocktail nuts, and most importantly, the best company you could imagine!

On Wednesday March 11^th, the best sporting event of the year, the Thomascup takes place! This yearly futsal tournament (indoor soccer) between NFK and Katechetika starts at 14:45 with the competition for women, followed by the match for men. Do you have soccer moves like the teams playing in the World Cup, or would you rather just cheer for our players and help them on their way to victory with your enthusiasm? Both are good, everyone’s welcome in the KBC-hall at the Sportkot!

The gala dance on March 26^th is almost there, and to really get into the theme, we’ll watch the movie that shows us what it’s all about: The Great Gatsby! Do you still need some inspiration for you outfit, would you like to get completely submerged into the opulent atmosphere of the twenties, and do you just want to see a very good movie? Then be sure to come to the lounge on Wednesday at 20:00 for a movie evening with style!

Due to the culture trip, of NFK to London (those who join us: check your mail!), there’ll be no bread meal on Friday. But no worries, next week we will be definitely be there for you again with a broad selection of bread, charcuterie and salads! Also the CuDi won’t be open today.

IN THE FUTURE

On Thursday March 26st, the biggest and fanciest dancing event of the year takes place, the gala dance! Therefore, the ticket sale will start this Monday. A ticket only costs €7 and you can get one in the CuDi, or at the fakbar this Tuesday. Not quite sure what you’re going to wear? Then definitely got to NFK’s website to get to know all the details about theme and dress code: www.nfk.be/galabal will tell you everything about it!

EXTRA

We would like to ask you for the very last time to fill out the student evaluations! The last day you can do so is March 11^th, so if you haven’t done it yet, this is really the moment to do it. Why do we find this so important? The evaluations are made because we need your input about the lessons. In case you didn’t like something, you had complaints or remarks; or the opposite: you liked something about your lessons and would like your professor to know that, we need to know that. Only this way we can guarantee the best education possible, and that’s something we all want. The results are anonymous and will be processed by an independent committee (not the professors themselves). At the moment we are in second place (concerning response grades), with a shared first place for the faculties of sciences and bio-engineers, and the theologians are right behind us! If everyone fills out the evaluations, we can get out first place back, like we have had every year. This year the faculty that ends up first, gets rewarded with money for Education, in order to be able to provide you with an extra effort. Last chance, so fill it out, everyone!

The book service (cudi) hours are from now on: Tuesday 17:00-19:00 and Friday: 12:00-14:00
