WEGWIJZER

Onze koene filosofenridders ontwaken, hullen zich in beschermend wapentuig en stijgen te paard. Gedurende de hele maandag trekken ze doorheen woud en velden, zich onderweg hoedend voor rabauwen en beurzensnijders. Omdat de weg lang en vol gevaren zit, is er die dag geen ridderspel waarmee ze zich kunnen verblijden. Dapper trekken ze verder.

Na weer een lange dag te paard kijken onze koene filosofenridders uit naar een gezellig oord waar ze het stof van hun reis kunnen wegspoelen. Dinsdag stallen ze hun paard en begeven ze zich naar het drinkgelag van de lokale M-café herberg. Wenst u zich bij hen te voegen en elkaar te vermaken met menig sterk verhaal, zien zij u daar vanaf 22:00.

Onze koene filosofenridders komen woensdag om 19:00 aan op een oord genaamd Ladeuzeplein, waar de VVS (Vereniging Vlaamse Studenten) een fakkeltocht organiseert tegen de besparingen op het hoger onderwijs. De ridders stappen af, nemen hun fakkel ter hand en lopen broederlijk mee. Hun fakkels glimmen en fonkelen vol kronkelende vlammen en ze zien de vonken van hun overtuiging weerkaatst in het branden van het rebelse vuur.

Donderdag bevinden onze koene filosofenridders zich op een heus ridderfestival. Naast het steekspel en de hand-tot-hand gevechten is er de grootste commotie rond het fifa-schouwspel. Beurtelings bestrijden dappere helden elkaar met een virtueel voetbalelftal in een strijd om de dapperste te zijn. Dus als je zin het, verwachten we je om 22:00 op het elektronisch slagveld in de lounge.

Vrijdag om 12:00 komen onze koene filosofenridders aan bij een open plek in het bos. De herfstbladeren kraken onder het hoefgetrappel van hun hengsten en ze schuiven aan bij de broodmaaltijd met soep en andere lekkernijen, uit een gelijkaardig herfstpalet. Ze zijn herenigd met hun medebroeders, vertellen verhalen over hun lange tocht en voelen zich geborgen in de huiselijke gezelligheid van hun gezegende lounge.

EXTRA

Net als vorig jaar zal prof. Van Riel dit jaar een filosofenkoor begeleiden voor (minstens) de Kerstwake en het Thomasfeest. Wie interesse heeft, stuur een e-mail naar michael.bauwens@hiw.kuleuven.be om op de hoogte te blijven van de repetities. Wie twijfelt: niet doen (twijfelen) en gewoon mee komen zingen.

NFKALENDAR 

Our brave philosopher knights awaken, wrap themselves in protective armour and mount their horses. On Monday they travel through forest and fields, guarding the road from thieves and deceivers. Since the road is long and full of danger, there isn’t a knight’s game that day for them to enjoy. Bravely they move on!

After an exhausting day of horseback riding, our courageous philosopher knights look for a cosy location where they can rest. On Tuesday they stable their horses and head to the drinking bout of the local M-café inn. Do you wish to join them on this entertaining night, with lots to drink and many stories to share, they’ll expect you from 22:00.

On Wednesday our brave philosopher knights arrive at 19:00 at a place called Ladeuzeplein, where the VVS (Flemish Students Association) organizes a torchlight procession against budget cuts for higher education. The knights dismount from their horses, with their torches held high, they fraternally walk forth alongside each other. The knight’s torches shine and sparkle full of twisting flames and they see the sparks of their belief reflected in the flames of the rebellious fire.

On Thursday our brave philosopher knights attend a real knight’s festival. Besides the jousting and brawling, there is the biggest commotion around the fifa-spectacle. Our brave heroes fight each other in turns with a virtual football team in a battle of the bravest. So if you fancy it, we expect you at 22:00 on the electronic battlefield in the lounge.

Friday at 12:00 our brave philosopher knights come at a clearing in the forest. Autumn leaves crunch under the hoof beats of their stallions. They sit down for a bread meal with soup and other delicacies, which are served in a similar autumn theme. They are reunited with their fellow comrades, telling stories about their adventurous journey and feeling secure in the home cosiness of their blessed lounge.

Like last year, Professor Van Riel will lead a choir of philosophy students for at least the Christmas vigil and the feast of St. Thomas. Do you have any interest? Na een week afwezigheid is er deze dinsdag gelukkig weer onze trouwe fakavond om naar uit te kijken. De hoorn des overvloeds schenkt weer gul. We kunnen ons bijgevolg verheugen op een hele avond socialiseren op het deinende ritme van een statige stroom streekbieren. Feel like catching a wave? We zien je dinsdagavond vanaf 22:00 in M-café.

WHISKY
Na lang wachten is het onze eer en ons genoegen om u te kunnen uitnodigen op een van de absolute hoogtepunten van het jaar: onze befaamde casinoavond! Hebt u er altijd al van gedroomd om James Bond-gewijs plaats te nemen aan een roulette- of pokertafel en stijlvol nippend aan een glas Scotch on the rocks, achteloos een fortuin te winnen? Deze avond is je kans. Vanaf 22:00 in het café ’t Vervolg (Pater Damiaanplein 1), leven we de droom van de echte high rollers. Dat alles voor een luttele €3. Indien je, zoals het hoort, in stijlvolle avondkledij komt, bedraagt de inkom slechts €2. Vergeet het dus niet, deze donderdag bevindt Las Vegas zich in Leuven!

FRUITSAP EN KOFFIE
Aan het genieten van je overwinningsroes en/of aan het bekomen van een gambling-kater? Vrijdag is het weer tijd voor wat down to earth gezelligheid op onze inmiddels vertrouwde broodmaaltijd van 12:00 tot 14:00 in de lounge. Fruitsap, brood, beleg en ander lekkers nog steeds aan €1.5.

KU Leuven Feminist Society: Als gelijkheid jouw ding is, kom dan zeker langs! Iedereen is elke woensdag om 19:00 welkom in het HIW in lokaal 00.16 of 00.20 (ze liggen precies tegenover elkaar zodat we soms kunnen wisselen van lokaal). De Feminist Society is vooral gericht op KU Leuven studenten, maar staat ook open voor afgestudeerden en niet-studenten. Dus iedereen, wees welkom! 

De openingsuren van de cudi voor deze week zijn maandag 18:00-20:00 en woensdag 14:00-15:45. Als je vragen hebt, kan je ook altijd mailen naar cudi@nfk.be

BEER
After a week of absence this Tuesday there’s again a loyal evening in the facultybar to look forward to. The cornucopia was generous again, so the evening will be filled with socializing at the swaying rhythm of a stately stream of beers. Feel like catching a wave? We’ll see you Tuesday from 22:00 at M-café. 

WHISKY
After a long wait, it is our honour and pleasure to invite you to one of the absolute highlights of the year: our famous casinonight! Have you always dreamed of James Bond-wise sitting at a roulette or poker table and, stylish sipping a glass of Scotch on the rocks, casually win a fortune? Then this evening is your chance. The event starts at 22:00 at the café ’t Vervolg (Pater Damiaanplein 1).  For a little €3 you live the dream of the real high rollers. If you, as appropriate, come in an elegant evening dress, the entrance costs only €2. So don’t forget, Las Vegas is located in Leuven this Thursday! 

FRUIT JUICE AND COFFEE
Enjoying your victory and/or obtaining a gambling hangover? Friday it’s time for some down-to-earth cosiness with our familiar breadmeal from 12:00 to 14:00 in the lounge. Plenty of fruit juice, bread, spreads…for still €1,5.

KU Leuven Feminist Society: If equality is your interest, come along! Everyone is welcome in the HIW in room 00.16 or 00.20 (they are located opposite to one another so we can alternate between them sometimes) on every Wednesday at 19:00. The society is mainly targeted at KU Leuven students, but it is open to graduates and non-students as well. So everybody, feel free to join!
