Naar aanleiding van de recente commotie aan het Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte, wilt de Nieuwe Filosofische Kring als officiële studentenvertegenwoordiging graag haar positie in deze situatie toelichten.
Een aantal studenten hebben reeds actie ondernomen en plannen ook nieuwe acties als antwoord op het voorval dat plaatsvond aan het Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte. Ondanks ons begrip voor hun bezorgdheid, ondersteunt NFK deze acties niet. NFK is immers van mening dat het ons enerzijds aan voldoende en betrouwbare informatie ontbreekt om een oordeel uit te spreken over wat er gebeurd is. Anderzijds hebben we geen reden om ons vragen te stellen bij de huidige aanpak van de kwestie, aangezien we vernomen hebben dat de bestaande procedures gevolgd worden. Bovendien is het door verdeeldheid onder de studenten voor ons als studentenvertegenwoordigers onmogelijk om een eenduidig standpunt in te nemen.

After the recent commotion at the Institute of Philosophy, NFK, as official student representatives, would like to clarify their position.
A number of philosophy students have taken action, and are planning to undertake other actions as an answer to the recent events that took place at the Institute of Philosophy. Even though we understand their concerns, NFK does not support these actions. In NFK’s opinion there is not enough reliable information to judge about the incident. Also, we don’t see any reasons to question the investigation, since we were informed that the necessary procedures were followed. Finally, it seems the disparity among philosophy students does not allow the student representatives to take a standpoint.
