About Zeitgeist
Originally founded as “De Wijzer” by NFK in 1976, the Zeitgeist is a bi-annual philosophy and art magazine. What began as a small effort to offer students a platform for self-expression has grown into a large-scale project that not only offers a space for experimentation and learning, but also aims to bridge the gap between students and faculty. In addition to a thematic section based on submissions by you, the student, we also include a news section, aiming at keeping the reader up to date on faculty developments and happenings. We believe that philosophy should not be constricted by the academic guidelines and requirements, and thus the Zeitgeist accepts photography, paintings, and poetry in addition to classical short and long format articles.
📝 Submission Guidelines
We accept a wide variety of contributions from the philosophy student community. This can range from written works like essays, articles, opinion pieces and poetry. To visual arts like photography, paintings and digital art.
Technical Requirements
To ensure the best layout for our print edition, we recommend the following word counts:
Short/Medium Pieces: Maximum 650 words (approx. 1 page).
Long-Format Articles: Maximum 1,200 words (approx. 2 pages).
In the case of art, we recommend getting a free high quality scan at AlphaCopy, located across from the HIW.
